SHIFT ON THE GO!
Many people think you cannot eat healthy while on the go, but you can! Almost any place can become Stage 1 friendly. Planning is vital, but you can make healthy choices even when you are stuck out and about. Follow these tips to stay stage 1 compliant even on the busiest of days.
What to eat when you’re on the go:
- If you can get to a grocery store, you’ll have many options, the easiest being pre-cooked hard-boiled eggs. You can find these in a two-pack (about 4oz/1 serving of protein) ready to eat!
- Another great grocery store find is sliced jicama. If you haven’t had this vegetable yet, it’s time to give it a try! You’ll likely find jicama pre-sliced like a french fry in containers by the other pre-sliced vegetables and fruit.
- Salad is always a good option. Please beware of the pre-made salad containers as they can contain cheese, croutons, highly processed meat, and high-fat dressing. Grab a small container of lettuce and use a travel Walden Farms dressing or some olive oil.
- Don’t forget to hydrate! When you are on the go all day, you’ll want to make sure you brought your water bottles!
- Keep a set of supplements in your car. That way, if you are on the go or at the office all day, you have them with you.
- If you are at a restaurant, be sure to use our restaurant guide for healthy selections. Always ask for lean meat and steamed veggies with no sauce!
It’s not a short term diet, it’s a long term lifestyle change.
Did you know?
In maintenance, some appropriate snack ideas would be a piece of fruit, a handful of almonds, a hard boiled egg, or a small piece of cheese.
