PREP YOUR BODY

Prepare Your Body for Mealtime

One of the keys to a digestive system that keeps you energized and radiant is setting the stage for good digestion before every meal. Setting the stage means drinking a glass of room temperature water about 1 5 minutes before a meal to hydrate your digestive tract. It also means leaving the computer, smartphone, television, and stressful company out of the picture.

Prior to mealtime, you should also practice breathing deeply to lower stress and increase presence so you can make the healthiest food choices for your body.

Try to check off this list-water, sitting, breathing-before you sit down to every meal, and notice the change in the way you feel after you eat.

Today, my body receives food and water with gratitude for the ways that it nourishes my body and beauty.”- Jolene Hart

Did you know?

Older adults are more likely to become dehydrated because our sense of thirst declines. Other factors that can lead to dehydration are medications, exercise, and climate. Humidity actually increases your body’s need, as well as when it’s chilly out. You lose more water breathing frigid, dry air.
