Topic 33:

GETTING PERSONAL

Yes, this week we’re getting personal about poop. Constipation can be a very frustrating setback in seeing the scale go down. There are many reasons for constipation, and fortunately we have many options to help you with them.

What can be done to help?
For acute constipation, try our ShiftSetGo Colon Support. This is a laxative to help with occasional constipation. If you suffer from chronic constipation please try some of these other helpful tips below.

Why am I constipated?
1. If you just started the program, less food in means less waste out. Because the foods are very clean products with little to no waste in them, that means your body is using most of them, and there is little to eliminate.
2. Are you taking all of your supplements? Make sure you are taking them all; they are a vital component of the program. The fish oil in the Omega-3 helps in lubrication. The Omega-3 fatty acids also help reduce inflammation that can be caused due to prolonged constipation.
3. Try more magnesium. Most people are deficient in magnesium, and this can lead to constipation. Magnesium works to relax our colon. An electrolyte like Ultima Replenisher is an excellent option as it contains calcium and potassium also. Potassium acts as an electrolyte, helping to balance water, fluid, and sodium levels within the digestive tract, so low potassium can contribute to constipation.
4. Are you drinking enough water? Too much caffeine? Caffeine is a diuretic. Being dehydrated can lead to constipation. For every cup of caffeine, you need to drink an extra cup of water (on top of your 80 ounces) to counterbalance it.
5. Are you getting in all of your veggies and one green zone? The roughage, fiber, and water in the vegetables alone should help ward off constipation. Unless you are loading up on low fiber veggies such as cucumbers and iceberg lettuce.

Did you know?

Your gut bacteria are constantly telling your immune system what’s what. These bacteria have a major influence on your health from digestive issues, to mood, to obesity, to cancer, and perhaps much, much more. Keeping these bacteria happy by adding Probiotics can significantly help your health.
