Topic 40:

Sometimes, life throws us a curveball. A family member may have a health crisis, the family pet passes, or we lose our job. Major events can change us, shift our perspective, and shake up our world for a while. We don’t wish any of these circumstances on anyone! Sadly, it’s unrealistic to think that bad things will never happen. These situations put a lot of stress on a person and can make even the most dedicated individual veer off track. Do you ever think, “I can’t deal with worrying about my eating right now; it’s too hard”?

This is something we call a sabotaging thought. Your long term success depends on managing this thought and responding to it effectively. A helpful way to respond is, “even though things are incredibly stressful right now, I can’t afford to get off track with my eating and gain the weight back. My health is at stake.”

Maintaining good health is a goal for the rest of your life, no matter where you are in your journey. In the end, it’s how you handle these situations that matter. Did you let it get the best of you and give up? Or did you persevere and continue progressing towards your goals in the wake of the storm?

Remember, you are not alone. Your coach is here to support you through the craziness that is life. Even if you get off track, remember to keep your appointments; your coach is dedicated to your success!
